2015 Gala

Friday, October 23rd  //  7-11pm  //  Four Seasons Hotel

This year's event, titled Bar 1878: Georgetown After Dark highlighted Georgetown's unique combination of history, style and allure. Our gala committee, chaired by Tricia Huntley, Leslie Maysak, and Jennifer Altemus, planned a special evening including wine, cocktails, an exceptional menu and live music. Hundreds of our Georgetown friends and family danced the night away to the tunes of DC locals BroadSound Band. There was a silent auction with not-to-be-missed items including a week at a cozy Aspen condo, beautiful artwork, sumptuous wine, an incredible Redskins home game experience, getaways to Vermont and Nantucket, and a beautiful rooftop party space. Click here to see all the auction items. 2015 Auction Items

#1 Aspen Condo: Spend one week at this cozy condo in Aspen with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Whether you ski, hike, kayak or simply sightsee, you will feel welcome in this authentic mountain playground! Surrounded by the White River National Forest and the Rocky Mountains, the city is a popular retreat for celebrities year round. (Dates to be mutually agreed upon/excluding holidays. Max 4 guests.)

#2 Exquisite Case of Wine: When an experienced wine connoisseur chooses a wine, you know it's going to be good! Pamela and Richard Hinds have graciously donated a case of 1990 Chateau Montrose La Dame de Montrose, Saint-Estephe, France. It is described as a mature bordeaux with dense, compact black currant flavors, earning 90 points from Robert Parker. This lovely wine is drinking beautifully now, so place your bid to take home twelve bottles of delight!

#3 Georgetown Artist Photography: A piece of art should not just decorate your space, but feed your soul. We are honored to offer three unique Georgetown photographs by local artist Ramin Abrahim. This set includes stunning views of the Potomac River and Georgetown just after sunset. The works have been described as “fusions” that capture the spirit of our village. The photographs are printed on a 30"x 20" sheet of aluminum and float mounted. The longevity of color print is estimated at approximately 70-100 years. (*Appraisal provided)

#4 Paris Trip: What’s not to love about Paris?  Enjoy 4 days/3 nights in the historic and hip Marais district which exudes old world charm and modern day functionality in the core of the city. This charming apartment on rue St. Paul includes 2 queen bedrooms and 2 baths with a sofa bed in the living room for a max of 6 people! The vintage boutiques, quaint restaurants, art galleries and museums of Paris are endless.

#5 July 4th Extravaganza: Close your eyes and imagine a fully-catered party for 20 lucky friends on a scenic waterfront rooftop on the 4th of July in Washington DC! OK, open your eyes and make a bid! The space has been graciously donated by our friends at Foley & Lardner Law Firm and catering by Italian specialty market Via Umbria.

#6 Nantucket House: Located 30 miles south of Cape Cod, the island of Nantucket is like stepping back in time with its cobblestone main street and historic architecture unlike any other seaport in Massachusetts. Relax and dream for one week* at the charming historic Laytham 1800s farmhouse with 3 bedrooms. "Innovative architecture inspired by history and perfected by time," as described by Cape Cod & Islands Home Magazine. Whether you like to stroll through the shops, charter a boat or visit one of the 3 lighthouses, the island of Nantucket is a special place to make memories. (*Mutually agreed upon date; excluding May 15 - October 1.)

#7 Redskins Experience: Are you a diehard Redskins fan? Get ready to place your bid. How would you like to cheer your team to victory? Package includes two tickets to the Redskins vs. Saints game on Sunday, Nov. 15th at 1:00 pm along with a parking pass and two field passes. The lucky winner also gets lunch at Cafe Milano with NFL media analyst and former general manager of the Redskins, Mr. Charley Casserly (to be arranged at a mutually agreed upon date.)

#8 Vermont Escape: Vermont is a place where you can enjoy quiet time while surrounding yourself with the best nature has to offer. Jamaica, located in Southern Vermont, has been called “a throwback to unspoiled Vermont where every building has a story and every resident has a smile.” One of our generous residents of Georgetown has donated her historic home with four bedrooms and two and a half baths. Enjoy nearby hiking trails, summer theater and the scenic Green Mountains. Available June or August 2016/no pets.

#9 Personal Portrait: The years fly by so quickly….capture your loved ones in a stunning portrait to make the memories last forever. Philip Bermingham is considered to be one of America’s leading portrait photographers. He has photographed numerous world leaders including Queen Elizabeth II as well as Presidents Nixon, Reagan and Bush. Philip’s portraits of performers at the Kennedy Center have graced the pages of magazines and theater walls. This auction package includes a personal consultation and portrait session with Philip and an 8 x 10 inch portrait. The session may be done in a variety of locations, such as Philips’s studio or your home. It is quite possible that it may even be arranged at a favorite vacation spot! Regardless of location, you are sure to be rewarded with a Bermingham portrait that you will cherish forever.
