Georgetown Gala 2014: Fly Me to the Moon
Fly Me to the Moon 2014 Georgetown Gala Celebrated "Our Kind of Town" with a Frank Sinatra Vibe Over 350 guests celebrated at the “Fly Me to the Moon” Frank Sinatra-themed Georgetown Gala at the Italian Embassy on October 4, 2014. The annual black-tie party with a mid-century theme was complete with the DC Love band, plenty of martinis, LP record decorations, and many guests dressed in fashions of the era. In addition to the lavish buffet dinner catered by Café Milano, the younger “after party” crowd were treated to late night pizza under the stars on the patio.
This glitz and glam evening honored Jack and Michele Evans, longtime Georgetown residents and activists who have worked hard to help CAG actively support historical preservation and improving Georgetown community life. President Pamla Moore said, "Everyone in the room can look around at someone whose life has been touched by the Evanses."
Co-Chairs Jennifer Altemus, Colleen Girouard and Robin Jones along with their committee, coordinated the beautiful event including a silent auction and then a live auction, called by Griff Jenkins of Fox News, which included a trip to Vail, a romantic Scillian Villa (with a driver included, of course), and a Nationals MVP Package. And all guests went home with a copy of “His Way, the Unauthorized Biography of Frank Sinatra” compliments of Georgetowner Kitty Kelly.
The Gala’s honorary chairs were: Ambassador and Mrs. Claudio Bisogniero, The Honorable Eleanor Holmes Norton, The Honorable Selwa “Lucky” Roosevelt, Senator and Mrs. Joseph Lieberman, and John J. DeGioia, President of Georgetown University.
